Honour for the 50 years of fruitful service

September 25, 2005, indeed was a great day of joy for all the inmates and volunteers of Navajeevan. A meet was held at the heart of the city, Thirunakkara Ground, Kottayam, in honour of Mr. P U Thomas, The Managing Trustee of Navajeevan Trust, who has completed 50 years of fruitful service in the field of social work. Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala, Sree Oommen Chandy, who addressed the gathering, said that Mr. P U Thomas is a respectable personality and his exemplary life is a great help for the last, least and the lost in the society in various ways and means. Thousands of people were gathered to honour him at the ground. Honourable ministers of Kerala, Sree K.M.Mani, Sree Ramesh Chennithala, and Sree Thiruvanchoor Radha Krishnan addressed the gathering. Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala, Sree Oommen Chandy handed over the memento to Sree P U Thomas. In his address, P U Thomas elaborated on the philanthropic activities of the Trust along with the hardships and sufferings he underwent in the initial years of his service to the humanity. Many other eminent personalities such as Sree Mons Joseph, M.L.A, Arch Bishop Kuriakose Mor Sevirios, Sree K.R.G Warrier, Kottayam Municipal Chairman, Sree Nirmala Jimmy, District Panchayath President, Kottayam, Vice President Biju Punnathanam, D.C.C. President Sree Tomy Kallani, B J P District President Sree Ettumanoor Radha Krishnan, NCP District Leader Sree Uzhavoor VIjayan, Vicar General Msgr. Michael Vettikkattu, Sree Thomas Chazhikadan, Fr. Thomas Puthussery, Fr. James Mullassery, Programme Co-ordinator Mathew Kollamalakarottu were present at the meeting.
